For years, broadcasters have been asking for an alternative to the traditional generator based power system used in broadcast vehicles due to high noise, exhaust fumes, high maintenance costs and most importantly missed live shots attributed to generator problems or failures. In 2012, Frontline engineering took on this challenge and started development of an alternative inverter based UPS type power system. This innovative power system, named the VIP(TM) Power System employs a 28V Mil-Spec 300 amp alternator, two 12V Mil Spec AGM batteries, an Inverter, and a real time LCD control/monitoring system which displays power load and capacity data.

The Frontline VIP(TM) Power System provides our customers with the following benefits:

– The VIP System size and output is configurable to your power requirements – The truck works without burning fuel (no emissions!) – Runs 4+ hours without the engine running, depending on the load. – Runs at idle speed when additional charging is needed – Maintenance free for your operators – Comes standard with an upgraded air conditioner and integrated heater system – The Frontline FastMast system is standard (FIRST of its kind – deploys 300% FASTER!) – Green Power w/solar option – Full system monitoring – Over 8000 watts of available power – The most heavy-duty components possible used – UPS power reliability. You can’t lose a shot! – Durability tested by the most demanding customers!

An added benefit of this power system is with no bulky generator, broadcasters have more room for ENG equipment storage in the rear of the vehicle.

Frontline introduced the Frontline VIP(TM) Premium Power System at NAB 2013 and began field testing. In early 2014, after successful testing and exceeding 30,000 miles on a Nissan NV 3500 test broadcast vehicle, Frontline began delivering Frontline VIP(TM) powered vehicles. Frontline has trademarked the Frontline VIP(TM) Premium Power System and has filed for a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

In June of 2014, Frontline introduced the Mini-Frontline VIP(TM) Premium Power System for use in smaller SUV sized broadcast vehicles.

Currently, two out of three broadcast vehicles delivered by Frontline include the Frontline VIP(TM) Power System.
