The unit will support law enforcement operations across the Houston metro area, providing a centralized platform for incident management, communications and multi-agency coordination.
The project represents a collaborative effort between Houston Metro Transit Authority Police and Frontline Communications to develop a next-generation mobile command unit tailored to the agency’s operational needs. Siddons-Martin Emergency Group facilitated the sale for the vehicle, which will support real-time decision-making, reinforce field coordination and strengthen public safety response across a wide range of scenarios.
“The mobile operations command center allows us to bring police services directly into the communities we serve,” said Houston Metro Police Department Chief Ban Tien. “It increases visibility and gives residents a more accessible way to connect with officers, report concerns and engage in real-time. This is about meeting people where they are and strengthening response coordination, education and partnership across the transit system.”

The mobile command unit has been built on a Freightliner 114SD Plus commercial chassis and configured with a custom aluminum modular body designed to support complex, mobile operations.
Other key features include:

- A 42-foot telescoping mast featuring thermal imaging, integrated 360-degree perimeter cameras and a network video recorder (NVR) provides comprehensive situational awareness.
- A 4-ton HVAC system sustains mission readiness and equipment performance during prolonged operations in diverse and demanding environments.
- Multiple slide-out sections expand the interior workspace, a dedicated conference area and integrated workstations to support command staff and partner agencies.
“Departments today need flexible, technology-driven solutions to support both emergency response and day-to-day community engagement,” said Randy Upton, Law Enforcement Sales Representative for Siddons-Martin Emergency Group. “This mobile command unit is designed to deliver versatility, helping Houston Metro Transit Authority Police coordinate operations effectively while maintaining a strong presence in the communities they serve.”
