Frontline Communications to Showcase Walton County Sheriff Mobile Command Unit at NSA 2026

Custom mobile command vehicle supports coordinated response, communications and field operations capabilities.

APPLETON, Wis. (Date XX, 2026) – Frontline Communications, a division of Pierce Manufacturing, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) business, will showcase a custom C-45X-4 Mobile Command Unit built for the sheriff’s office in Walton County, Florida, at the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in Omaha, Nebraska, June 8-11, 2026. The vehicle, which was delivered in March 2026, was designed to support incident management, communications and multi-agency coordination during critical incidents and planned events.

The project reflects a collaborative effort among the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Frontline Communications and Ten-8 Fire & Safety. As the local dealer and project partner, Ten-8 Fire & Safety worked closely with the sheriff’s office and Frontline Communications throughout the specification, design and technology integration process to ensure the unit was tailored to Walton County’s operational requirements.

Designed to Support Emergency Operations

Built on a Velocity® custom chassis and powered by a PACCAR MX-13 510 HP engine, the 45-foot mobile command unit features four slide-out sections and a 25 kW generator to support extended field deployments. The interior includes eight workstations, a large conference room with additional bench seating, a full galley and a wet lavatory to support personnel during prolonged operations.

Other key amenities include:

  • Four roof-mounted air conditioners for climate control in demanding environments
  • Two full-height equipment racks and exterior monitor compartment
  • 42-foot mast with FLIR HD/thermal camera
  • 360-degree perimeter camera system
  • Hi-Viz emergency lighting package with 84-inch Omen lightbar

The vehicle also integrates a comprehensive suite of advanced technologies, including an Extron video switcher, Kymeta u8 flat-panel satellite antenna system, Dejero Gateway LTE bonded cellular router, Apple TV and DirecTV capabilities, VOIP phones and multiple Virtual Technologies touchscreen displays to support command operations and situational awareness.
